Scientific Organizers: C.
Masoller
(Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay)
H. G. Solari
(Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Topics covered by the Workshop: laser theory, dynamic and noise
properties, optical feedback and optical injection, multimode behavior,
vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, polarization and
transverse-mode effects, cavity solitons, chaotic synchronization and
applications to secure communication systems, laser arrays.
The purpose of the Workshop is to keep the scientific community working
on nonlinear phenomena on lasers and optics, updated with the most
recent developments and tendencies in the area. We hope that the
Workshop will provide the opportunity to interchange ideas in a relaxed
environment, contributing in this form to the possible nucleation of
new inter-institutional collaborating groups and encouraging the
development of scientific collaborations at an international level.
Emphasis will be put in the participation of Latin-America young
scientists.
The conference will take place in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay.
Located in the north bank of the Rio de la Plata estuary, downriver
from Buenos Aires, upriver from Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento is a
small charming city founded in 1680 and declared World Heritage City by
UNESCO. Temperatures during December range from 25 to 30 Celsius
degrees, with mostly sunny and fresh days.
