Plots of Absolute Nuclear Magnitude (V(1,1,0))

vs

heliocentric distance (r)

Following we present plots of  the absolute nuclear magnitude (V(1,1,0)) vs the heliocentric distance (r) for the 220 comets for which data is available. The vertical lines indicate the perihelion and aphelion distances. The horizontal line corresponds to the adopted nuclear magnitude. Different symbols are assigned to selected observers and observational categories according to Table 2'. The observations are classified using the following groups:
Table 2': Symbols and codes used for data points
Observer symbol Code
(pre - empty ; post - full) pre / post
General circle -  1 / 2
CCD pentagon -  2 / 3
Roemer upward triangle -  4 / 5
Scotti (nuclear) diamond -  6 / 7
Scotti (total) square -  10 / 11
Lamy et al. downward triangle -  12 / 13
